Notes from the Importer: The story of Domaine de Bichery begins with the 2015 harvest, when Raphaël decided to vinify his own Champagne in a tiny cuvérie in Neuville-sur-Seine, renovated during the summer for this very purpose.
Raphaël is a graduated oenologist from Changins in Switzerland and "la Viti" in Beaune, and returned to the family estate during the season of 2013 after different stops and harvests in Switzerland, Bourgogne and Bordeaux.
Bichery today farms six parcels in those same sloping hills above the town where Raphaël grew up, Neuville. In Febuary 2019, after three years of mandatory conversion time, the Domaine obtained the official Ecocert certification. Production is still very small, capping at 6,500 bottles with the 2018 vintage.
Along with offshore’s Charles Dufour, they are part of the "Association des Champagnes Biologique", a community of certified organic grower Champagne producers pushing a new level of terroir-driven quality.
